Today I am excited to announce the official launch of the “Microsoft Cloud Guy” podcast at http://www.MSCloudGuy.com. This podcast is produced and hosted by me independently of Microsoft. This is something that I will be doing in my spare time and hope it will contribute to the cloud technologies conversations. (though in fairness Microsoft has assisted me by providing some equipment such as the H2 Microphone)

What to expect

The focus of the podcast will be primarily on the Microsoft Cloud Azure Platform. I will cover topics such as Windows Azure, Live Framework, Windows Live, Silverlight and any other innovations that contribute to the very extensive product offering Microsoft now has in this space.

Occasionally I also hope to cover fun topics like Microsoft's involvement with Virtual Worlds and consumer products.

Existing Episodes

For the first two episodes already recorded I am covering the following topics:

  • Episode 1, "The Pilot": Episode 1, "The Pilot" with guest Bill Zack and host Dmitry Lyalin of Microsoft Corporation (Recorded Live February 23rd, 2009)
  • Episode 2, "Azure Storage": Episode 2, "Azure Storage" with guest Chris Rolon of Neudesic (Recorded Live February 23rd, 2009)

Known Issues

As with any new venture there will be issues, here are some known ones:

  • Website RSS feed works with Zune and iTunes but things like Cover Art, descriptions, and other Misc. items are not yet all configured properly
  • During my first two episodes at times I say the word Exciting a bit too much, things to work on personally (and oh yeah, I made up a word at one point)
  • There is no player directly on the MS Cloud Guy podcast website, I will be adding a Silverlight custom player in the near future
  • The introduction audio before the podcast is a bit repetitive and doesn't add a good custom introduction for each Podcast, I will start recording better ones going forward
  • We don't have an agenda introduction at the start of an episode, we will add them going forward
  • The Pilot episodes is “all over the place”, we did our best and will try to run a tighter ship going forward

NOTE: As of 3/10/2009 SkyDrive has had occasionally issues that delivered a blank page instead of my Podcast files, please be patience as this issue is being worked on by the team

Technology
