Those who know me personally know that I am Jewish. This fact was not even always know to me though as I was born in the Soviet Union in the early 80’s were “Being Jewish” was not seen as a favorable thing for ones live and definitely their career. Therefore my parents kept this fact away from me to protect me.

After arriving to America in the late 80’s as a very young kid this danger subsided and slowly my parents started to explain the whole “Jewish thing” to me. Honestly to this day they are no experts but at least no longer live in fear.

The most I learned about my religion was during the time my parents sent me to a Yeshiva for newly arrived Russians. This school become my only education from 6th to 12th grade. I learned a lot there about my religious background thought still to this day would not call myself very religious. I dont have the biggest faith in big religion but do believe in g-d.

Rosh Hashanah

Today though is a special day, its a day that begins the Jewish New Year and so we celebrate it as a holiday known as Rosh Hashanah (literal translation “head of the year”). Many of the Jewish holidays revolve around something sad but today id say is a happy occasion.

I want to wish all my Jewish friends and readers a Happy New Year. Lets hope that the world is heading into a direction were no one will fear practicing their religious beliefs and perhaps even one day peace is found for all of us. One can be a dreamer cant they?
