Today I was very fortunate to see Luke Hoban’s presentation on F# at VSLive NY 2008. I had a small hand in getting Luke into the schedule for this event and am very happy on a good turnout and his excellent presentation. I really have avoided F# until now but am glad to have take the first steps into this new language through today’s superb introduction.
Luke mentioned a few key facts about F#’s “coming of age” and I wanted to share them with everyone.
No longer just Research
First It should be worth saying that F# is no longer a research language and is now being talked about as one of the new languages that will eventually become standard in Visual Studio, probably starting with the next version.
Development Center and September CTP
Next if you are interested in checking out this new Functional programming language I recommend starting with the newly launched MSDN F# Developer Center. This has many excellent resources and a download link for the newly released September CTP of F# for Visual Studio 2008.
